Yeah, Cadillac’s styling doesn’t age well, nor translate well to being enlarged (much like Lexus and Infiniti, in the interest of fairness).

Ugh, why can’t it be either a Lincoln (their styling of late is much more stately and handsome) or a joint project from the Big 3 (as they are, maybe Tesla, too?) where it’s a unique but very-American vehicle. This example looks like someone took a 300 short-stretch limo and put cadillac fascias on it. Just awkward.

It should be more polarising...

Perhaps basing it on an F Series might've achieved that?

I quite like the new Caddy. It think the design flows better than the last limo.

However, I still hate the wheel covers. They look like base model GM/Chevy.

The fact that it has a plate at all is kind of amusing.

I think it’s based off a GM truck platform, those wheels are probably run flat and bullet proof and some other fancy defensive doo dads that is classified.

The selection was decided under the last President. Government contracts take a while to show a final product.

I’m still going to pin this on Trump. :P I don’t get why Obama would like a Cadillac.

It’s not the PotUS’s decision. It’s a lot like a military contract, where the Secret Service decides it needs an updated model, holds a proposal and bidding war, then chooses among the field. I don’t believe Lincoln submitted an entry, and we know GM would rather spend money on a one-off (technically more than that) halo project and advertisement than put that effort into consumer vehicles.

If I were PotUS, though (no thanks!) I’d try to find a way to insist upon either something that looks like an “everyman’s” vehicle (like a Ford truck), or a modernized mid-’60s Continental complete with coach doors (or even the current Continental with some Navigator and Aviator cues due to the size disparity, even though I think the 2002 Continental Concept looked far superior overall) .
